So, I've lived in NY and NC all my life and really haven't had to deal with hot weather that much. NC gets warm but is by far not that bad comparitively (sp?). For the last 2 months it's been in the 3 digits here for most days of the week. I've been getting used to that and can do most of my outdoor activities in those temps now. (hiking, cross country running, riding bikes, playing with my dogs, etc....) Well this weeked the temps got stepped up a notch and it's now 106 degrees outside. I'm planning on going swimming later and maybe do some reading. Other than that I'm out of ideas on what to do.
What are some activities everyone does when it's too hot outside to breath?
Well, if you're used to the temps like you say, I'd suggest tennis. It is a really fun sport especially once you get to the point where you can hit the ball at a decent speed and keep it in. And unlike a lot of sports you don't need to try to get a whole team (A lot of times I like playing basketball but it's just a pain trying to find enough people to get a game going).
Theres a couple places we play in Cary/Raleigh that are surrounded by trees so theres a lot of shade and the heat isn't bad at all, but just keep a jug of water near by and a towel and you'll be fine.
try doing things earlier in the day or before sunset when the temperature is a little cooler. i even get up a little before the sun is up so i can enjoy cooler temps. outside as long as possible. i can't stand it when its extremely hot outside. i turn into my dog and lay around inside all day until it cools down again.
